Thank you for your letter regarding Vietnam Service Medal eligibility requirements.  I appreciate hearing from you on this manner

I can understand why you feel that the date of service requirements for the Vietnam Service Medal should be extended for those in Vietnam until April 30, 1975, when Saigon fell.   I feel strongly that we must appropriately honor the men and women who serve(d)  our nation so courageously.   I will certainly keep your thoughs in mind as my staff and I consider veterans' legislation for the 106th Session of Congress.
